Former National Football League Player Antonio Brown Files Not Guilty Response in Murder Attempt Charges

One-time NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is returning to Miami to face an attempted murder charge stemming from a gunfire that took place in May, as his counsel filing a innocent plea on his behalf.

Detention documents in Essex, New Jersey, reveal that Brown was released on Tuesday early for his transfer to the state of Florida. Brown, among the most famous players in the NFL, had waived extradition to Florida from New Jersey, in which he was detained after being taken into custody in Dubai.

Brown’s counsel, Mark Eiglarsh, said in an email that he has already submitted a documented innocent declaration to the murder attempt accusation. Brown could be in a Miami hearing as early as Wednesday morning for a release session, Eiglarsh added.

Based on his apprehension order, Brown is alleged of grabbing a firearm from a safety employee after a celebrity fighting contest in May and firing a couple of rounds at a individual he had confronted with earlier. The alleged target, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, informed investigators that one of the bullets touched his throat.

Eiglarsh stated that Brown was merely safeguarding himself from Nantambu.

“The steps he was compelled to take were solely in self-protection against the claimed person’s hostile actions. Brown was attacked that evening and responded within his lawful privilege to defend himself,” Eiglarsh commented.

Brown was not immediately apprehended because originally police did not recognize Nantambu as a victim. It only later in May that Nantambu provided a complete account about the situation to police and named Brown as the perpetrator, the report says.

According to his social media content, Brown had been residing in the city of Dubai for multiple weeks. In a update after the incident, Brown claimed he was protecting himself because he was “attacked by numerous persons who sought to take my possessions and inflict physical injury to me.”

A level two attempted murder charge in Florida imposes a maximum 15-year incarceration penalty and up to a $10,000 fine in the event of a finding.

Brown has dealt with numerous judicial issues over the time. He before had been accused of battery of a vehicle employee, various abuse accusations, inability to pay parental support and other incidents.

Throughout a recent match with the Buccaneers against the New York Jets, Brown removed his uniform, protective gear and accessories and ran off the field, causing his dismissal by the team and practically concluding his professional journey.

Brown, who had 12 years in the league, was an top-tier receiver who spent most of his tenure with his team. For his professional life, Brown had over 900 catches for above 12,291 distance, the 28th most of record. He was a multiple-time prestigious selection.
